Tuuruharju Nature Trail in Kaamanen

Lenght approximate 3 km.

Tuuruharju nature trail follows the river Kaamasjoki downstream for 1,5 km to the fast-flowing rapids of Kovakoski. Then nature trail rises to the top of the ridge. Here the trail is quite steep, but the scenery on the top of the ridge is beautiful. On the ridge the trail follows a small forest road back to the starting point. The trail will lead you through an old forest.

Most of the trail consists of natural narrow paths. Therefore you will need good shoes. In summer is better to have mosquito deterrent, if there is no wind.

The trail has been marked with orange ribbons around the trees. There are seven signs that tell about the nature of the area along the trail, both Finnish and English. There is no built campfire site with firewood by the trail.

Tuuruharju Nature Trail is situated north from Kaamanen village by the road E75 from Inari to Utsjoki. On the northern side of the crossroad to Karigasniemi, there is small stopping point and the gravel pit and on the northern side of them there is a small road to west with signs “LUONTOPOLKU”. You will take that road and drive approximate 50 m and there is place to park your car. The nature trail will begin from your right side if you look from the direction that you came.
