Nellim village is in south-east corner of Lake Inari. In Nellim there are three different cultures: original inhabitants are Inari Sámis, on 1920 – 1930 came Finnish people and after Second World War came Skolt Sámis from Petsamo area to Nellim.
In Nellim there are interesting sites to visit. At Wilderness hotel Nellim there is a room full of traditions; handicrafts and old objects. In the centre of Nllim village there is also Orthodox Church, church of the Holy Trinity and Trifon Petsamolainen. At Lake Keskimöjärvi there is renovated log chute. Lake Inari empty into River Paatsjoki in Nellim. Bridge over river Paatsjoki, close by Russian border, is good place for example to observe birds.
Kessi-Vätsäri wilderness area and Tsarmitunturi wilderness area are nearby Nellim village. For people who have boats, it is easy to get to Lake Inari to sail or cruise from Nellim. Actually Nellim is one of the most important fishing harbours around Lake Inari.
In Nellim it is possible to accommodate in cottages, have cafeteria and meal services, enjoy local specialities and homemade food. Guided village tours, guided visits in church, Sámi and handicraft presentations are also available in Nellim. Nellim village offer also services like cruises and nature trips. Genuine Sámi handicrafts are available as souvenirs.
