Inari

Northern Lapland includes part of Sodankylä and the municipalities of Inari and Utsjoki. Inari is the largest municipality in Finland in terms of area (17,321 square kilometres). The population density in northern Lapland is 0.5 inhabitants per square kilometre of land.

Kaamanen

Village Kaamanen is situated by the road E75. This road goes up to north to Utsjoki and Nuorgam and from there to Norway to Varangenfjorden. From the southern side of Kaamanen there is cross road to north-east to Sevettijärvi, Näätämö and to Norway, Kirkenes. On the northern side of the village there is cross road to west to Karigasniemi and to Norway, Karasjok and Nordkapp.

Nellim

Nellim village is in south-east corner of Lake Inari. In Nellim there are three different cultures: original inhabitants are Inari Sámis, on 1920 – 1930 came Finnish people and after Second World War came Skolt Sámis from Petsamo area to Nellim.

Sevettijärvi

Sevettijärvi is a long village on north-east side of Lake Inari by the road that goes to Näätämö village and to Kirkenes town in Norway. By the road there are lots of lakes and bonds and the road it self goes on ridges.

Karigasniemi

Karigasniemi is one of the three villages in Utsjoki municipality. It is located on the upper reaches of River Teno. Trade with Norwegians is busy in Karigasniemi. In the village you can hear everyday life discussions in Sámi, Finnish and Norwegian.

Nuorgam is Finland’s and EU’s northernmost village. Nuorgam lies on the bank of Europe’s best Salmon River Teno. Nuorgam is on the border of Norway, just nearby Arctic Ocean.
