Karigasniemi is situated in the upper River Teno, which you can cross along the bridge to Norway. This typical borderline village has several shops and other services. The road connecting Karigasniemi and Utsjoki runs along the banks of River Teno and opens lovely scenery to the river and Norway. On the river banks you can see farms which are still having cattle. Teno River offers great salmon fishing facilities and Inari River is good for hiking and fishing and small river fly-fishing. Karigasniemi has its own sacred Ailigas Mountain. The clear waters of Sulajoki can be seen from the nature trail but you must keep in mind that this is a sacred place for the Sámi. Also the southern end of Kevo trail is situated in Sulaoja. Through this trail hikers can admire the Kevo Canyon in the Kevo nature reserve.
