NUORGAM

Nuorgam is small and northernmost village in the EU and Finland by Teno River, the best Salmon River in Europe, on the Norwegian border, almost next to Arctic Ocean. Nuorgam has a few shops, frontier guard unit, school and chapel. The most famous fishing place Alaköngäs on Teno River and the museum road next to it are worth seeing. Lake Pulmanki and its river valley with beautiful scenery are part of ancient Arctic Ocean fiord. The surroundings here are ideal for hiking and camping. Trails for hiking and camping, skiing and snowmobiles from Nuorgam to Sevettijärvi run through Lake Pulmanki.

Nuorgam offers good possibilities to make daytrips to Norway and shores of Arctic Ocean, for example, to different places in Varanger fiord. Additionally, salmon fishing on Teno River, winter fishing on mountain lakes, willow grouse hunting, bird observing in Varanger region, hiking, Arctic Ocean fishing and snowmobiles are tourism attractions in Nuorgam.

ALAKÖNGÄS

Alaköngäs is the largest rapid water section of the River Tenojoki, the length of which is 6 kilometres with a head of 25 metres.
